GlobalTrust

Spotlight: GlobalTrust

Award-winning geospatial data analytics company, GlobalTrust, is joining us in the Space Zone at Venturefest South.

Using Earth observation (EO) and satellite technology, GlobalTrust provides sustainability insights and independent intelligence to businesses and organisations across a range of sectors.

Founded in 2020, they employ 10 people at their base near Winchester, and are always on the look out for new talent to join the team.

Some may struggle to see the connection between satellites and sustainability - can you tell us more?

Satellites play a vital role in understanding our negative impacts on the planet and supporting societies’ transition to a more sustainable way of life.  Satellite technology provides a unique data source for sustainability insights on a wide range of metrics.

What makes satellite data so valuable is that data can be recovered back to the 1970s, and new data is being continuously collected, which is valuable for assessing change over time and baseline measurements. Satellite coverage is also global, so it provides evidence for what is happening on the ground everywhere on Earth.

The fact that a lot of satellite data is open source means it is an independent and trustworthy dataset that can be used for third-party verification.  Some of the metrics we measure and monitor include vegetation, land cover, water, atmospherics, biodiversity and social impacts.

Satellite data analytics for these metrics can transform corporates’ understanding of their relationship with the environment and society and help them to appropriately manage the risks and the opportunities that these insights present.

Have you been to VentureFest South before?

No, this will be the first time, and we are really looking forward to it!

What are you hoping to get out of the event?

We’re looking to showcase our work to potential clients and engage with others in the innovation supply chain who might offer opportunities for collaboration.

We are looking to expand our financial service clientele in the face of new environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosure regulations, so we’re interested in engaging with delegates and exhibitors from this sector.

In terms of collaboration, we’d like to meet organisations looking to create data solutions for new financial disclosures (e.g. TCFD, TNFD), harnessing technology to provide corporates and financial institutions with sustainability insights, or companies involved in space who may have a route to market for their product or service.

What can Venturefest South visitors see at your stand?

We’ll have a demo video of our lead platform tool, GlobalGuardTM, where we will happily talk through the demonstration and answer any questions.  There will also be the chance to see some real case studies showcasing our key parameters which can be utilised in a range of scenarios and sectors.

What are the next steps for GlobalTrust?

We’ll soon be launching our own innovative sustainability monitoring service that tracks, analyses, and communicates the sustainability performance of client’s operations, suppliers or investment portfolios.  We use the latest satellite imagery and geospatial datasets, coupled with advanced analytics, to deliver up-to-date social and environmental insights.  It provides a trusted and independent sustainability ‘health check’ of specific operations or organisations through a simple gauge of the natural and human environment.

We are looking to expand our offerings across the UK and globally in various sectors, such as finance and asset management, supply chain monitoring, and the food and beverage sector.
